What a fabulous start to this new month for our dogs in the show ring. On the 10th we travelled to Wales for SWKA champ show judged by Bob Gregory – our star on the day was our own girl Fibi who took the top spot in the Open Bitch class and then continued to win Best Bitch, her 2nd BB in the space of 10days & at the age of almost 9 years proving that she can still keep up with the youngsters. Our Rafa was awarded 3rd in Open Dog, Torres, handled again by Mike on this occasion, was placed 2nd in Post Graduate Dog & Senna winning her Junior class then being placed 2nd in the Post Graduate Bitch class.

Kerry received written confirmation that she has PASSED the AMCUK breed specific hands on assessment that she took on the day of the seminar. Fantastic news and great for her judging CV!!!

Congratulations to Bev Gell & her boy Cullen (Icewolf A Touch Of Stardom For Cheshnina) a Rafa son bred by Rachel & Anthony of Icewolf, on her wins at Poole Canine Club Open Show on the 24th. Cullen not only took BPIB but also RBOB, he then went on to be awarded WPG3.

Rachel & Anthony Robb’s homebred Icewolf girl Scarlett, sired by our own Rafa, won her Open class on the 31st at Kensington CS Open show – well done guys!!

Amazing results for some Rafa progeny at the Thetford 2 day Rally on the weekend of the 30th & 31st – Adam & Louise’s Salem won the scooter class and both Salem & his half sister Saffie competed in the m2 class & came 4th out of 22 competitors!!!! Louise & Alan’s girl Ruby took part in the same m2 class with their other Malamute Monty & came 5th – fab results there out of a massive class!! All these Rafa progeny were bred by Rachel & Anthony Robb at Icewolf Alaskan Malamutes & doing us all very proud.

On the 3rd we attended a Kennel Club Movement & Conformation Hands On Assessment in which you need to be assessed by a Kennel Club assessor
on the points of a dog. Kerry took this assessment today and we pleased to announce that she passed with a 100% pass rate.

Other great placing for our dogs on the day were, Torres 2nd Post Graduate Dog, Thorn Reserve Limit Dog & Senna taking the top spot in Junior Bitch, Yearling Bitch AND Post Graduate Bitch all at just 15mths of age!!!!!!!!! Our gratitude as always to our judge.

Paignton Championship show was held on the 2nd with judge Mr Robin Searle. We enjoyed some good placings with our dogs being awarded spots within the top 5 with all of them out of very large classes. Our extended family performed well on the day to see Debbie Prout’s Tikaani win the Post Graduate Dog class and then Linda & Seth Jermans Malmo being placed VHC in Limit Dog & Reina taking the 3rd place Limit Bitch spot which qualified her for Crufts next year!!!! Both of these dogs were handled by Kerry Jelfs who showed 5 dogs in total on the day!

On the 8th Kerry had her second judging appointment for Cheltenham & District Society Open show held at Bromyard. In total she had an entry of 18 dogs overall, 14 of which turned out. This is a brilliant entry number for an Open show and we would like to express our gratitude to all the exhibitors. Kerry found her BPIB in Rachel Robb's Cz Jnr Ch. Under Icewolf’s Star Inditarod (IMP CZ) who went on to be awarded WPG3 under Group Judge Sarah Robinson (Rigrunner) RBOB went to Avril Ropers Tokosha Issumatar & BOB went to John Phillips’ Am Ch Sno Quests Gold Standard (IMP USA) who went on to win the WG and then ultimately BEST IN SHOW under judge Tegwyn Jones!!! What a fantastic day for Kerry & the exhibitors who received the highest accolades in the breed judging.

On the 21st it was The Welsh Kennel Club Champ show held at Builth Wells. Our Rafa and Fibi were placed yet again among the top winners in their Open classes against some strong opposition which seems to run in the family as today saw Kerry handle Linda & Seth Jermans Rafa / Fibi daughter Reina to win 3rd place in the Limit Bitch class again concreting her qualification for Crufts 2011 & also their Rafa son Malmo who took the VHC spot in Limit Dog. A very good day for Rafa kids altogether with Kim Jebson's lovely Icewolf girl Shelby, taking the 2nd place award in the Limit Bitch class also qualifying her for Crufts
2011. That's both the 2nd & 3rd place spots taken by Rafa girls in this class. Well done to all connected dogs and their owners & handlers whether placed or not. On the same day in Europe, Rafa daugher, Icewolf a Touch of Scarlett wins the CACIB, CAC and Best Bitch at the Duo Danube show in Slovakia.

Scarlett continues her success and again receives the CACIB, CAC and Best Bitch on the 22nd at the 2 day show in Slovakia.

NEWS
Our first champ show of this month was Windsor held on the 3rd judged by Vic Salt. Our very own Rafa took 2nd place in Open Dog and was then awarded RBD! Our Rafa son Torres was placed 2nd in Post Graduate Dog, with his litter brother Tikaani owned & handled by Debbie Prout taking the 3rd place spot in the same class. It was time for Senna to compete with the older dogs for real at this show as she has just turned 12months and although she has been showing in Junior aswell as Puppy since her show career has started for ring practice, she now is doing Junior & Post Graduate – we were amazed by her placings as she took 2nd place in both of these classes!!! 1st place in Post Graduate Bitch was another Rafa girl Scarlett, owned and bred by Rachel & Antony Robb. Our Fibi had a fantastic day and moved like a dream to be awarded the VHC spot in the Open Bitch class. More Rafa kids made their debut in the Championship show ring today bred by Rachel & Antony at Icewolf, being placed 3rd & VHC in a huge Puppy Bitch class were their own Icewolf A Touch More Glamour (Lola) & Icewolf A Touch Too Tempting (Layah) – also making his debut today was another Rafa son Cullen, owned and handled by Bev Gell, Icewolf A Touch Of Stardom who although not placed in a large class did very well at this being both his and his owner/handlers first Championship show. Remember all these names people they are ones you are going to be hearing a lot of in the future ;-)

East of England Champ show was held on the 9th judged by Liz Dunhill. Lovely show but sadly the hottest part of the UK on that day – although all the dogs coped very well with the heat which was helped by the society having rings that were mostly covered. Today saw our dogs again all being placed in the cards out of a large entry. Rafa was placed RES in the Open Dog class, Torres RES in the Post Graduate class, Fibi 2nd in the Open Bitch class and although we are very proud of all our dogs placings we are extremely proud of our Thorn taking the 1st place award in the Limit Dog class despite being the youngest dog in the class!!!!!

On the 17th National Working & Pastoral Breeds Champ show was held at Malvern with Breed Specialist judge Mr Keith Givens. Our very own Fibi was the star of the day taking 2nd place in the Open Bitch class then going on to challenge the rest of the bitch class winners to win the Reserve Bitch CC!!!!! We are over the moon with this result and had some fabulous placings for our dogs and their family. Our Rafa took the Reserve spot in a large & strong OD class, Thorn was placed VHC in a strong LD class, Torres took 3rd place in the Graduate class, which had an unusually high entry. Rafa children owned and bred by others also had some superb placings – Debbie Prouts Tikaani was placed 2nd in PGD and Rachel Robbs homebred girl Scarlett won PGB!! Outstanding results for us all and our gratitude to our judge on the day. We went to Evesham & District Open show on the 18th under judge Sue Garner and our Torres won the Open class and went on to win RBOB.

On the 25th July Scarlett - Icewolf a Touch of Scarlett, daughter of our own Rafa and owned by Rachel had an exceptional start to her European Carear and at her Debut Show in Irig, Serbia she achieved the CACIB, CAC, Best Bitch in Breed and to top it all went Best of Breed. What a fantastic achievement for this young girl!!!!

NEWS
Southern Counties Champ Show on the 6th showed yet more success for our own show dogs and also for their extended family – there were 6 Rafa offspring shown on the day with all of them being placed in the cards. Our own boy Torres was placed VHC in the Post Graduate Dog class just behind his Icewolf litter brother Tikaani who received the RES spot. In Limit Dog Linda & Seth Jerman's Lapema boy Malmo was awarded VHC with their Lapema girl Reina taking the 3rd place spot in Limit Bitch. Rafa himself took 3rd place in Open Dog proving that he can still compete with the up and coming dogs. Our own Rafa daughter Senna took VHC in the Puppy Bitch class and then went on to win the 2nd place spot in Junior Bitch. In the Post Graduate class the 2 tops spots were both taken by Rafa daughters – Rachel & Antony Robb's homebred Icewolf girl Scarlett taking 1st place and another Icewolf girl Ruby, owned by Louise & Alan Burgess, being awarded 2nd place at her 1st ever Champ Show. Rachel & Ants own Import girl Mishka, the mother of Torres, Tikaani & Scarlett was placed 2nd in Limit Bitch. Scarlett then went on to win Reserve Best Bitch in the challenge expertly handled by Antony. Well done to everyone some fantastic results.

Three Counties was this year held on the 12th – rather confused as to why the committee had decided to change the layout of a show that previously and for so many years had been such an enjoyable show with a very thoughtful layout for exhibitors – have to say that this year we were disappointed with the choice to change what has worked for so long and found that it effected our overall enjoyment of the show. However, our dogs were awarded some great places in the breed ring. Our own Torres was placed VHC in Post Graduate Dog, with his brother Tikaani owned by Debbie Prout taking the 3rd place spot. Our little baby Senna was awarded VHC in a large Puppy Bitch class and then 3rd place in Junior Bitch. Our girl Fibi won 2nd place in Open Bitch again proving that despite being in her 9th year she is going strong. So proud on the day with our own Thorn showing in the Open Dog class for the 1st time at Championship show level. With no Limit class available to our breed at this show we had no option but to enter Thorn in the class that his Father Rafa would normally be in as Rafa on this occasion was not going. Although Thorn was not placed he showed his little socks off and he did not look out of place in with the bigger and older dogs.

On the 27th it was Blackpool Champ show judged by Ferelith Somerfield and we had a slight heatwave – thank goodness for the breeze or it would have been totally unbearable for both dogs & exhibitors. It was our Senna’s last time out in Puppy and she was awarded 3rd place yet another Crufts qualifiers for the baby! Another Rafa daughter qualified for Crufts 2011 today was Rachel & Antony Robb’s homebred girl Scarlett who took the 2nd place spot in the biggest class of the day Post Graduate bitch, so qualified in style. Our very own Fibi was again amazing today and took the 2nd place spot in the Veteran bitch class.

On the 1st we had a brilliant day of results at the Romsey & District Open show under Judge Rebecca Kaye. Thorn was awarded 1st and BOB out of the open class and also gained WG2 under Judge Roger Cruden. At the same show Senna was awarded 1st in Special Yearling and Best Puppy in Breed. On the 9th Birmingham National was held at Stafford and judged this year by breed specialist Mrs Sue Smith (Zeezulak) and a great day was had by all. Our latest baby girl Senna was placed VHC in both the Puppy Bitch class and the Junior Bitch class beating some very strong contenders. Many thanks to our judge on the day.

At Redditch & District CS Open show on the 15th Judge Toni Jackson awarded Senna 1st place in Junior, BPIB & RBOB and Torres 1st place in Open & BOB. Torres then went on to win the Working Group under Judge Joe Chorley!!! Some stiff competition in the Group and we are very pleased with our show kids latest achievements.

We made the trek to Scotland for the Scottish Kennel Club Champ Show that was held in Edinburgh on the 21st. Our judge on the day was breed specialist Mr Roger Cruden (Shamsky). Torres & Thorn were placed Res & VHC in their classes. Our oldest competitor Fibi was placed 1st place in Open Bitch and challenged to win the Reserve Bitch CC – at almost 9 years old we are amazed at how Fibi still manages to give the youngsters a run for their money and getting awarded top honours and all at a show which required at least 6 hours travelling just to get there, she is a true show dog through and through although now slightly stubborn and mischievous in her twilight years!!! Our little star on the day was our youngest exhibitor Senna being placed 1st not only in the Puppy Bitch class but in the Junior Bitch Class also!!! This gave Senna best puppy bitch and allowed her to challenge the best puppy dog for Best Puppy In Breed which she won!!! We are over the moon with our placings, it made the journey home a whole lot nicer with lots to talk about and as always our gratitude to the judge. Rafa progeny had some very nice results also with Debbie Prout's Tikaani being placed 3rd Post Grad Dog, Rachel Robb's homebred Scarlett placed RES in Limit Bitch and Linda & Seth Jermans Lapema girl Reina being placed VHC in the Limit Bitch class. Not forgetting Scarlett, Torres and Tikaani’s Mummy being placed VHC in the Open Bitch class – well done all! A really enjoyable show despite the travelling with an excellent ringside atmosphere.

At Bath Champ Show on the 30th our dogs had some lovely placings. Our own Rafa taking the RES spot in Open Dog, his son our boy Torres being placed 2nd in Novice Dog, his brother owned by Debbie Prout being placed RES in Post Grad Dog and the baby of the buch our little Senna being placed RES in a very large and strong Puppy Bitch and 3rd in the Junior Bitch class.

Just proves our lines are not just beauty and showy but they are as everyone wants them to be 'FIT FOR FUNCTION'.

For the first time WELKS Championship show held on teh 25th had classification for Alaskan Malamutes and also a new show offering 2 sets of CC's for the breed. Our judge on the day was breed specialist Sharon Loades (Snowolf) and we are grateful for the places our dogs were awarded out of an amazing number of dogs entered totalling 190 entries. Our own Rafa was placed 2nd in Open Dog against some very stiff competition and was then given a chance to compete for the RCC, which he won! - making that a total of 2 CC's and 3 RCC's - well done Rafa, so proud you are still keeping up with the youngsters and holding your own!!! Rafa progency also had some good results in very big classes. Our own Torres was placed 2nd in Post Graduate Dog - this place qualifies him for Crufts 2011 and our Limit boy taking VHC in his class. Our youngest competitor Rafa daughter, Senna, was placed 3rd in Puppy also qualifying herself for Crufts 2011 and then placed VHC in the Junior class. Many thanks to the judge on the day for thinking so highly of our show dogs.

NEWS
On the 6th at Romford & District, Linda & Seth Jerman's Lapema kids had some good results. Reina was placed 2nd in the Post Graduate class and Malmo 3rd in Open. Well done guys.

**LAPEMA DO THE DOUBLE AT CRUFTS 2010 - BEST VETERAN DOG AND BEST VETERAN BITCH**

On the 11th it was time for the biggest show on the calender - CRUFTS. This year's judge was Akita breed specialist Mr Dave Killiea (Redwitch). We had a fantastic day from start to finish and would like to start off by saying how proud we are of our dogs and their extended family for the amazing temperaments shown throughout the day - it really is a long day and with 5 of our dogs entered it is a very exhausting day for us all including the dogs.

Our own Rafa was handled this year by his professional handler, Mr Geoff Corish and they won a very strong class of 8 entries. Then was the the turn of our Rafa/Icewolf boy Torres who was handled to VHC out of 16 entries by Kerry's husband Mike in Post Graduate dog class, with both dog and handler taking it all in their stride on the green carpet with them both being Crufts virgins.

Torres' litter brother Tikaani owned by Debbie Prout went on to win the Post Graduate Dog class and qualifying for CRUFTS 2011 - this was also Tikaani's first time at Crufts - well done Debbie and Mr T!! Both litter brother's placed in the same class at Crufts is fantastic - Team Icewolf plus Team Lapema equals a winning combination!!

Our own Fibi was awarded Top Honours in the Veteran Bitch class out of another strong entry of 11 dogs - another double for Lapema with both Veterans winning their classes!! With Rafa and Fibi being our foundation pair - it seem that Lapema Alaskan Malamutes have some very strong foundations indeed and the progeny awards prove this. Although Thorn, Chico and Rachel & Antony's Scarlett were not placed in their huge classes, they did us all very proud. Many thanks as always to our judge on the day for our awards and also Geoff Corish for handling Rafa brilliantly and Mike for handling Torres - you did us proud!

Many congratulations to Linda & Seth Jerman on gaining Malmo's Show Certificate of Merit (ShCM). Malmo (Lapema Gomez de Royito) is the first Lapema bred Alaskan Malamute to gain this award and title. Well done to you and keep up the good work!

On the 21st at Horley & District, Linda & Seth's Reina (Lapema Reina Una Stella) was awarded 1st place in PG and RBOB with Malmo being placed 3rd in Open class under judge Darren Clarke - well done.

At the International Show in Reykjavik Demi won excellent, 1st place in class, Best Bitch, BOS, champion material and to top it all off she got the International point (CACIB). Also on the 2nd Linda and Seth Jerman went to SWEKA and their Rafa/Fibi girl, Reina, was placed 2nd in Graduate and their Rafa son Malmo was placed 3rd in Open under judge Mr G Payne - Well done!

Also on the 3rd at Taunton & District, Debbie Prout's Tikaani won BOB and then went on to win WG4 under judge Mr B H Hill.

On the 9th we were unable to make Boston Champ show due to the extreme weather conditions in our area - snow made the local road impossible to pass to get to a main road to attempt the 2 hour journey, so unfortunately we had to stay home. Some really good results however for Rafa progeny; breed specialist Nicola Singh (Sledog), awarded Rachel & Antony's homebred girl Scarlett (Icewolf a Touch of Scarlett), 2nd PGB and she then went on to be awarded Reserve Best Bitch!! Great day for malamutes in general with Terra, BOB winner, owned by Sharon Loades (Snowolf), going onto win WG4. Also huge congratulations go to Tina & Andy Dolan's boy, Alfie who at the same show achieved BP and WPG3!!!! Furthermore, Kat Copey-Holland's Rafa daughter, Kura, was also placed well in the PGB class, the biggest class of the day. Kura has also had some very good open show results at the end of 2009. Well done all!

Debbie Prout continues her winning streak with her Icewolf/Rafa boy, Tikaani, who on the 16th at Yeovil & District Open show, under judge Mrs D Stansbury by winning yet another BOB and WG4 placement.

Well done also to Lyndsey Bullen with her Rafa daughter Lola (Chayo Steel the Limelight), for some great results at Clitheroe & District CS Open show by achieving Best AVNSC and WG2.

On the 23rd at Manchester Champ show our own dogs had some respectable placings with Debbie's Tikaani being placed 2nd in PGD - well done to all and thanks to Mike for handling Torres for the first time and doing a fab job!!! It is a shame though that the ringside antics left a lot to be desired. It is not very polite or sporting for people to be heard ringside making very nasty comments about other people's dogs - what makes it worse is that they were said loudly enough to be heard by the exhibitor and I know of one particular exhibitor who left the show very upset by it all. We really do despair at some people and were on the receiving end ourselves - it is not big or clever to be so nasty to others. Fortunately, although annoyed we have been showing for a very long time and realise that you need a very thick skin to show, but unfortunately this kind of behaviour can put some people off showing for good, which is not good for the breed or the future of showing. No-one is a saint but please, people, if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all, especially not in ear shot of the peole you are pulling apart - have some manners!

At the weekend it was the time for the Aviemore Rally. Many congratulations to Adam Johnson with Icewolf/Rafa kids, Salem & Saffie. This was their first time at Aviemore and their first time running together competitevly and using a sled, finished in 4th place overall in their class out of a total of 35 teams!! Real achievement guys and we are very happy with your results - you should be very proud of yourselves.

On the 30th at the East of England CS Open show, Rafa daughter, Kura owned by Kat Copey-Holland was awarded 1st in Open class - well done Kat.
